Hello Everyone...
If i have worked part time for more than 900 hours...
Now if i am getting oppurtunity somewhere else contract for 4 months, 40 hours/week. Its a contract job so after 4 months they wont convert it into full time neither they will extend the contract.
My question is Could i apply for EI after the contract is over till i find other job.
I went thru service canada website for EI info, but i couldn't find specifically if its a contract job would i get EI or not after the contract is over and i wait for atleast 7 consecutive days without any job.
Any and all inputs will be appreciated.
Thanks
Will they be deducting ur EI premium frm pay stub in contract job ? If yes, u can apply for EI.
Did u get laid off and have a open claim. If yes then u can take up the contract. U have to mention that u have temp contract to Service canada and u will not get paid any EI during the contract period.
Once the contract is over u can reopen the claim as long as 52 weeks have not passed since opening the claim.
If u leave ur job on ur own then u will not be eligible for EI, but ppl do all sorts of things to get EI , like saying u are getting harassed at work..

hi
thanks for your reply
i am not laid off from my part time work. i am full time student and work part time for 10-20 hours a week...
i ll finish my study in dec and have given interview for a job which is contract job.
i have done 2 interviews. final interview is left. i am not sure if i will be paying EI for the contract job.
But i am paying EI from my current part time job.
Even for contract jobs good companies give u a choice and deduct EI, if u get a choice take the EI option because for a short term one time contract u will end up spending more in paper work for charging HST and doing ur taxes than the benefit of a contract.
