Nobody came to Canada to live a simple life. They came here to pursue the North american dream ( Bill Gates, Subir Bhatia ........). To live a simple life India is good enough.

In a nutshell, 100K is very good package. Also, depands upon your expanses.

Have you ever heard a Canadian dream like American dream. Canada is not a country where you can become a millionaire.

Loser,

I guess you are talking for yourself and few others with similar concepts. Not everyone wants to be a Subir Bhatia, Bill Gates ... Also, simple things in Canada (& especially Van.) are much better than the simple things in India (again ... simple things are subjective)

To the OP ... I am in Van. in IT and with a similar package as yours and I absolutely LOVE it here. For me, the life here aligns with most of what I consider dear in life.

Are you getting a raw deal? ... not so sure as you haven't mentioned your domain skills.

But as one of the member mentioned ... if you don't want to live in dwtn, north van., or the glitzy areas of Vancouver then your income is much more than enough for a family of 2. If I were you, I would take it and enjoy the good things that this city has to offer.

Good luck & chill ! :)

I was refering to the OP w.r.t. the 'simple life'.

And by the way you can lead a simple life in Canada. It is just subjective and everyone's idea of living a simple life is different - India or someplace else.

Web2000, to me there's no difference between American Dream and Canadian one(if that exists). This term has been exaggerated beyond means. If American dream is to have your own house in the burbs, 2 cars and an SUV with 100k job then Canadan dream is no different as well. Don't we all want that in Canada too?

Back to the topic and help OP. Here we digress once again.

The problem has been a lot of people have been living the "American Dream" while accumulating credit card debt in the thousands....anything to live the dream, eh?

are you guys kidding? I thought 100K is a very good package for family at least in the GTA?

Is Vancouver suburbs that much more costlier than Toronto suburbs?

The only thing I found low was the $800 medical. What does that mean? Don't companies offer extended health insurance like 90% for dental, 50% off for private room etc etc. Never heard of a fixed amount like $800 medical.
