Action plan
We will launch the program with a pilot project between March 2011 and May 2011, for a selected group. The pilot program will comprise one mentor and 6 mentees in a sector specific mentoring group. Once the group is matched, they will take part in 5 mentoring sessions over a course of 4 months. The main program will commence in June 2011.
If you are a new immigrant or a seasoned Canadian professional, we encourage you to be a part of this program.

Four years ago, I had put forward the same question on a national forun at a conferance in Regina where I was representing professional immigrants...........
and the answer unfortunately was very disappointing.
Seems like all these programs follow Rogers and Bell - all the incentives and discounts are only for the new customers - not for the loyal ones!
This specific program is meant for new immigrants who have come to Canada in the past 3 years, as that is the stipulation of the government grant. However, we may launch a program in the future for not-so-new immigrants.

The same story for the organizations like Career Bridge. They only take in people who are new or less than 2.5 (something like that) years old to the country. When I inquired about my wife who's been struggling to get into her profession for the last 3 years, their response was mostly negative.
These organizations are nothing but a bunch of 'let me fill my coffers first' people. They get paid handsomely by the Govt. but I highly doubt their policies. But hey, they won't make it good for a not-so-new immigrant as at the end of the day the 'handsome grants' are flowing in from our own tax money.
Immgration is a darn good business these days!
