It may help, last year one of my friends got married in Pak and sponsored his wife (this was his first and only marriage therefore suppose to be a straight forward case). His sponsorship was approved and the file was transferred from here to CIC-ISL within 60 days--- now it has been over a year there is no news from CIC-ISL, he recently enquired CIC-ISL via his MP and was told that the file will initially be reviewed during this summer and from that point count 6-9 more months to conclude the case, provided everything is OK.
Of course no official words from CIC-ISL on why the spousal sponsorship is taking almost 2 years!

Is it really true? If it is then I am not sure what has taken over CIC these days(Conservatives..). They even extended the wait time for Citizenship to 2 years. I applied and got my citizenship in 8 months in 2009, just two years ago. So, it's not only parents' sponsorship alone, they have extended the wait times for virtually all the other categories.

Darn! Two years for spousal visa? That's hell lot of time and really empathize with the OP.

Do they really want immigrants, or just don't want anymore from South Asia. Guess, they are looking for more applications from East European nations. Don't want to open a pandora box, but is it the skin color that is dominating Conservatives?

Sorry for digressing. Just wanted to make sure if it's really 22 months?

It is officially 21 months for Pakistan and 6 months for New Delhi. It really depends on the country. However, New Delhi used to be 2-3 months, a few years back.

Here are the timelines

that is very disappointing... and given that the application hasn't even started processing there is no question that the delay was due to in complete application package.

I noticed on the CIC website that the 21 months is for the completion of 80% of the applicants, which does mean that it can be less than that, however these times are for applications processed from Jan - Dec 2010.... so it can be even worse now....

Can anyone else also shed light on some of their experiences?

I have applid for my wife PR on April 1st, On June 1st we got a letter saying that the application has been moved to ISL and since then no updates. This is really stupid, on one hand they say they want Husband and wife to be together and on the other hand takes 2 year to process this.

Is there any way we can contact some one to speed up this process living alone is getting on my nerves now
