Hello,
I'm a Canadian citizen and I've applied for sponsoring my spouse from India.
Need some clarification from immigration experts here:
1) Can spouse visit Canada on tourist visa while application is in progress without affecting the outcome or timeline of sponsorship application?
2) If spouse does come to Canada on tourist visa, would spouse then need police clearance from Canada before immigration is granted?
3) Would refusal of tourist visa application have an impact on the outcome of sponsorship/immigration application?
Thanks!
Normally no visa is issued to a person once they have applied for migration till a decision is made on that.
My wife successfully received a visitor visa well after her PR visa was issued on the passport but before our landing. So, it is possible. However, the probability in the case of spousal sponsorship is low since CIC would view her intent to visit diferently. My wife had to enter Canada on a business trip at that time and she was able to explain the exact date we were landing.
