Hi Guys:

I am finally giving up on Rogers and looking for alternatives. Looking at the price, availability in my area and features, I am looking at these options - any comments/suggestions/warning abt any?

Freephoneline.ca - net and phone
3web - net and phone
Acanac - net and phone. I don't like the pay upfront for 1 year though.
Teksavvy - Too many maintenance charges?

Also, recently I saw ads for
ACN (they have an unlimited calling to India plan) and
gtt4u.com.

Any one has any recommendations/warnings?

Thanks!

for phone, I'd go with Vonage.
they have a very good India calling plan too.
Vonage quality is much better than others.
over 90% of VOIP phone providers have crap quality.

For internet I'd go with either Teksavvy or Acanac.
you'll have to pay Rogers for dryloop but it still work out much better.

stay away from ACN.
it's a multi level marketing scam.
you will end up paying a lot in fees.

I looked at Vonage, but they have a 3000 min per month cap - which we normally exceeds. Will need another 1000 mins to be safe.

ACN - can you elaborate please? I may not go for that anyways since they don't support iptv.

I have another question.

I am thinking about subscribing to Vonage and get away from my existing landline connection. However, I have a home alarm and heard(mostly from internet forums) that the alarms are not compatible with the VOIP phones. Is it true? Is anyone here using home alarm with voip phone? If not and I have to take a basic landline just for the alarm then the whole purpose of voip phone in terms of pricing/cost dies for the people who have home alarm installed in their houses.

Anyone?

ACN is based on a multi level marketing model.
while the service it offers is probably ok, there are lots of fees and contracts.
it is worse than Rogers and Bell.
the contract and fees don't make it worthwhile.
Google "ACN scam" for more details.
there are many websites that describe it.

Thanks RBO. Do you use their internet also?

I am basically looking for an unlimited or 200G limit kind of plan, which will allow me Netflix...
