I am finally giving up on Rogers and looking for alternatives. Looking at the price, availability in my area and features, I am looking at these options - any comments/suggestions/warning abt any?

Freephoneline.ca - net and phone
3web - net and phone
Acanac - net and phone. I don't like the pay upfront for 1 year though.
Teksavvy - Too many maintenance charges?

Also, recently I saw ads for
ACN (they have an unlimited calling to India plan) and
gtt4u.com.

Any one has any recommendations/warnings?

Thanks!

My dilemma is this. I need Vonage to save on my long-distance bills, just like everyone else. However, if I will have to pay my alarm company extra for wireless or a basic phone line then the end result is the same. My purpose to go to Vonage nullifies.

Would love to hear more on this if someone else is in the same boat.

No, I did not try as ADT people said vonage in not compatable with their system. But I feel sometimes speaking to a different agent might help.I will try again.

I used it for about 6 months. For me, it was more of a hassle as I used to connect it to my laptop.I move my laptop all around the house. The MJ device broke one day.I did not order the new device although I had paid for 1 yr.

In my opinion,If your usage is going to be once in a while, its worth it.Also if you will connect it to desktop computer or the laptop which stays in one place mostly, it ok.....not otherwise.

RE: Magic jack.
I am using it over a year in Canada, also gave one to parents to use it back home (main usage), so far no problem at all. I connect it with a wireless phone set so carry it all over the home while talking without actually moving laptop/ computer, recently subscribed for another 5 years (the initial subscription expires after one year of purchase) but all in all nice product.
