Hi,
My current Visa and WP are scheduled to expire on 30-JUN-2011. My employer has already filed for a WP extension. After my WP is extended, can i apply for a new visa? If yes, can someone tell me which office to apply and what are the steps. I am living and working in Mississauga.

visa is required only if you travel out of canada and want to return back. If you have valid WP you are good to stay here. For applying for Visa apply from the home country or otherwise apply through mail/post to Buffalo office.

Has anyone on this forum applied for such a visa through mail/post at the Buffalo office? I am planning to hire a law firm to do it. Are there any preferred ones in Toronto area?

Once you receive WP, Getting TRV is easy. You don't need an attorney for this. Go to below link, download and fill IMM5257B, IMM5257E, IMM5645E and IMM5484E. Attach copy of your WP, T4, Bank statement etc. T4 and Bank statement are for supporting purpose. If you live in Ontario, you can courier it to either Buffalo or Detroit. Detroit is fast. Usually it will take 10 working days to get your passport back.

I was not aware of the Detroit option. I stay in Mississauga and i thought we were restricted to the Buffalo office alone. Did you try it at the Detroit office? How bad is the Buffalo option? Does it take a lot of time?
New york is other option which is faster than buffalo

Are you referring to the Canadian office at New York City? I am not sure if you were referring to NY state or city. Did you send it to NY City office?
