Hi all CD's,

One of our family friend is going India on Vacation for one month and i want to send my 10 years old son with them.

They already booked ticket so we have to get my son ticket with same flight.
Note : going date is 12th July and return 14th Aug.

Do i have to notarized child consent letter by lawyer or simply letter can works for immigration purpose?

anyone know good agent who can help to book ticket for reasonable price? I asked one agent and told me with Taxes $1445 (is it good price??) and still says ticket is not confirm.

My son is Canadian citizen so i have to apply for visa (How long does it take at VFS to get visitor visa?)

What is time line for OCI now.

If i apply for OCI for my son - Shall we get OCI before 10 July 2011? any clue or guess??

I know it is so many questions, your input would be much appriciated.

Regards

Yes. It is advisable to have notarized consent letter especially when one of the parents in not travelling with their kids. If possible get two copies .one with your child and other with the family who is travelling with the kid. If you want to save for the notary for the other copy then you can certify that copy with commissionaris of oath(free of charge). In mississauga, copy can be certified at the Newcomers centre at Sussex bldg.(Pink bldg nr sq. one which was recently moved from Rober SPeck pkwy bldg)
Dont forget to mention contact no.s of both the parents and also keep one copy with you. In some cases they call parents too.

I just write a formal letter and include copies of my DL and PR card... Worked fine so far. My family goes to India pretty much every time and only during the very first trip, the officer asked to see it. He did have some small chat with my kids though about what I do etc. Might have been verifying that there is no foul play...

Why don't you check wth your friend how much he/she paid for their ticket. That will give you an idea of $1445 is reasonable or not.

The entire OCI process takes about 4 to 6 weeks.

It is better to take VISA now instead of going for OCI this time. Some times OCI process can be delayed for unknown reasons and you ( your son) get stuck.

Thank you so much for quick reply to all of you.

sudesingh,

I checked with same agent and she told me the price with Taxes $1445, but again she is not sure that will get confirm ticket or not? She will let me know today.

My friend paid for child is $1270 3 days ago and she is asking me for $1445.

Do anyone know about specific performa or letter for Child consent letter? When i googled it i could'nt find it, but it is taking me some lawyer's website, etc...

if OCI tooks only 4 to 6 weeks than we can go for OCI instead of Visa, b'cos visa right now costing almost $62 + $19.95 (VFS Fee)

but again as per Gurram sometime it took long. so i think we do not want to take risk on this case.

Rgds
