Hello everyone,

We are planning to tie up with two other families and plan a cottage trip this spring/summer. Our idea is to rent a big cottage anywhere in Ontario, for 3 families. It will be a bonus if there are activities for children around.

I have looked at websites for cottages but there are too many to make the right choice.
Can any of the CD's recommend a popular cottage with good reviews?
I am sure everyone has a family favorite.

p.s: i have looked into the older posts and threads for more info. But, info is very vague.

Thanks in advance,

Rajagopal.

so, no one has cottage experience?;)

This calls for a seperate thread for cottage living where people can give their good (and bad experiences) and some tips on how to plan one's cottage trip.

regards

Rajagopal.

I am interested to hear CD's opinion and experience about renting cottages and the good places for it.

Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks

We went to the Blue Spruce Resort near Algonquin Park a few years back. They have various sized cottages, as well as motel rooms, and you can choose depending on your budget. We enjoyed the experience. There was plenty of on-site activities for adults and kids. Check out their website below for more details

We went to Christies Mills cottage at Port Severn Muskoka for the canada day long weekend. There is 1 cottage with 3 rooms which can accomodate 6 adults, also there are individual rooms as well in another building. It is fully surrounded by the lake, and from the room windows you get a nice view, also they have a barbecue + fully equipped kitchen. The cost was $330 per night, which includes buffet breakfast.
Things to do
Indoor - swimming pool,sauna etc
Outdoor - there are boats/canoes which you can use free of cost
There is a cruise for 2 hrs on a luxury boat costs $25 per adult, which can be booked at reception.
Balm beach is 30 mins drive from here. Water was cold but still could take a dip.

Check out the following cottage resort near Parry Sound

http://www.whitestonelakeresort.com/rates.php

It has cottages with 3/4 bedrooms or a main bldg where you can take one room only.

BBQ outside each cottage .

Good spot for the weekend.
