There are many, many Canadian companies in other sectors that can give other large international companies a run for its money.

I'm sure it is less than 100%, and possibly much less.
It is traded on both the Canadian and US exchanges so obviously some of the ownership is non Canadian.
As for how much exactly, we'll either need to dig through analyst reports and/or speak with Investors Relations.
Don't be surprised if substantial holdings are non Canadian.

We had that last year when the Canadian govt. blocked the takeover of Potash Corp. by BHP.
However, the fact was that a substantial ownership of Potash is non Canadian already.
These days ownership lines are so blurred that hardly any public corporation can be claimed exclusively by a country.
Agree to most of your viewpoint. RIM is viewed as a Canadian company. I meant that. The ownership % I agree.
In today's global village, a lot of boundaries are blurred.
Citibank owned by Saudi Prince, Volvo owned by Chinese Geely cars, Jaguar owned by TATA etc etc.
Having said that RIM is well known Canadian Tech company and like any big company, lot of careers and lives revolve around it. We wish it well.

RIM slept when BB was doing well. A tech compnay like RIM cant afford to do that. Their latsst product cant match APL.

Why didn't RIM invent the equivalent of the iPhone? They had the headstart, money & the technology. The Head honchos are asleep at the wheel - more interested in pursuing personal interests like buying a NHL franchise rather than setting strategic direction for the company. Even when they were blindsided by iPhone's success it took them nearly 3 years to come out with the Torch - that too not an iPhone killer by any stretch. Too little too late.
The top mgmt are either incompetent or disinterested - they have served their time - new blood is required.
They, like Nokia, deserve the bashing the press gives them.
