Plz advice.
BG

I worked in Indis for 2 years OCI card. I applied for PAN card but tax officer do not give PAN card to OCI becasue have not received from the government on OCI but they do issue PAN card easily to PIO. Fuuny.

I joind company giving PAN card resuest number and HR did not give any problem. And got my PAN card (not sure how) I think due to agency my company hired for expat help(like driving license, driver, bill payment, finding apartment, car registration in other word wherever you have to bribe depending on work agency charged me from Rs 100 to Rs 1200). I think it was reasonable going to government office, driving, food, fuel, efforts and time a person waste. Agency people know where to go and already have fxied rate.

As some one mentioned if you look like indian and you & your children have not have north american accent you are indian in india. Does Indain government know how many illegals in India.

I think if you are getting very good salary I dounbt you would like to move back to canada. As I know family friend who moved back to India and now working at higher position of india operation of a multinational. He is getting good salary and has better future. Here in canada you will add little and limited growth

Folks
Just to clarify some posts made by CD's here:
a.) I was working with an American Multinational in Bangalore for 3 years and I had an OCI. As a result, no processing and other stuff needed for working there.
b.) You need to apply for a PAN card and you will get one
c.) If you have foreign currency that you want to hold on to, go to any bank (preferably SBI as they have a wide reach) and open a RFC (resident foreign currency account) with them. The interest rate will be negligible but better to hold on to your dollars.
d.) Your DL and other stuff should be done by visiting the RTO of your zone. In Bangalore you have 5 zonal RTO's and you should visit the one which is closest to your home. You will get a "Smart Card". I had a NY state Drivers license and got my DL instantly (surprisingly, the same NY state Drivers license helped me bypass the G-process in Ontario and I was able to exchange it for a G-License !!!!)
e.) You can buy property etc., and apply for other facilities as any other citizen of India. You do not have to declare your Nationality UNLESS SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR.
f.) If you have a child who is born in India..please read a subsequent post from me. The rules a tad-bit complicated but easy to follow (though painful)

Thanks

If you want to buy from here, you can buy 220 V items from Gerrard Street in Toronto. There are a few more places, you can look it up in ads in desi newspapers.

If I were you, I would buy them locally in India.

Thanks to all for their input.

Today I applied for my employment visa. I opted to get my Indian Passport cancelled as well, paying hefty fee. As this was first time I was applying for a visa for more than 6 months; I just opted to choose to get it done to avoid any hassle.

Yes, I will buy the required electricals from India only.

Thanks again,
BG
