TK ,
My parents are 80 + and they were never asked for medical even when they were granted 5 yr multiple visa .
I know quite a few similar cases when medical was not asked .

Looks like your parents do not live in India. Otherwise I am yet to hear of any parent located in India who has not been asked not to do the medicals. However there can be exceptions.

I don't know the criteria, but as mentioned before my parents are 55 and 60, very healthy, and they were asked to go through the medicals for the 6 month's single entry visa. May be for it was their first time visiting Canada. Only CIC Gods know.

Notwithstanding, I am not surprised at their process. CIC is anyway notorious for employing some confused, mysterious, and non-transparent ways.

TK,

they are living in India (Gujrat). and i surprised too when they recieved their passport with stamped visa without asking any questions.......I was lucky that time.

I do not know this time how many hurdles ahead from CIC....

Congrats RBO.
My parents visa got expired and i am going to send the invitation next week. hoping that they will bypass their medical requirement and get 10yrs.
I have few questions and would love to hear if any one had recent experiences..

1>Can i send the invitation, bank statement, empolyement letter in email? has any one done recently and gone the visa?

2>Can my parents apply/mail to deli CIC directly or should go to nearest VFS service?

3>My parents US visa expired as well. Can they apply a visiting visa from toronto or should they apply from their home country?

4>My dad got his passport renewed last month got 10yrs valid, where my mother has 9yrs validity...
so what happens to my mothers visa while requesting for 10yrs? do they grant upto 9 yrs or give only 5 or reject due to insufficient validity?

Really appreciate any of our CD's had experiences recently

I had send all docs via e-mail and it worked every time for my family .

Visa should be applied though VFS

Best bet is to apply for US visa in home country . Chances of denial are very high here . Seniors are granted US visa easily ( yet to hear declined )

Sorry dont know that for sure . If you wanna play safe apply for five years visa as the web site states that PP should be valid for the duration of visa applied .

GOOD LUCK

Hello,

I have no correct answers for all of your questions but all the best, and please share your experience and result once you got reply from CIC.

One thing i suggest best to go near VFS office instead of mail papers to CIC at delhi. it will take too long to get answers and one more thing about our indian post office is like bullock-cart sometime you missed your whole package in post office. it happened to me 3 to 4 times when i was in India.

Good luck.......
