As also suggested by Fido, pick a place where you can get the certification (remote places are easy). Work with existing Dentist while working towards your certification/licence to meet both ends. Once you get licence, sky will be the limits.
My dentist landed in Canada around 15 years back, got certification (with full time study) and now living in over a million dollar decent home.

Shaikdens !
Welcome to Canada , land of opportunity for only positive people.
You will see many colors of life here, Do do not succumb to depleting reserves of savings..it will happen in the beginning.
Though you should prefer both, still one of you should take longer path of doing degree/certs/courses and then going for own practice. Being dentist you are definitely sitting on a goldmine, but the digging may be long and gruelling. Be ready.
Eventual success is guaranteed in case you stay determined and avoid frustrations.
Yes but is a generic parameter for success .. may not apply to all but for most yes .

Is living in over a million dollar home equals happiness.

"Success"..........I think Ash's comment if read with his previous post, would clear the doubt. I echo his comment below:
"....For that matter..... lots of hard work should bring success in India too (why bother to come to Canada & loose your cultural identity & be a slave to the western world).
After several years of life in Canada, there will always be the risk of identity crisis. I mean you will always be called an Asian immigrant for the rest of your life; & your child/grandchild/great grandchild/ even though they are born here; will always be considered an person of Asian origin....."

Dentists in India are a dime a dozen & people are mindful when spending their own money .. Here its the insurance money and people don't mind spending it .

However the same is not true for doctors in other fields who can earn better in India then over here ... where they are so few medical seats ... I m not sure if same is the case with dentistry as such so one has to check out first what s the possibility of re certifying himself first ..
