Starting this thread to find out some options for Cable / Satellite TV. Not interested in Rogers or Bell. Any other reliable options out there?

For Internet / Home Phone, I am thinking Teksavvy (website always down :-( ), acanac or primus. Any experiences, or other alternatives? Anyone used freephoneline.ca?

Acanac has a 75$ modem charge as well as 50$ activation fee,

All options & suggestions welcome!

I switched to Primus last April. At that time they were charging me $65 / month for home phone including 3 features (call display, call waiting & v/mail) & unlimited NA calling and unlimited DSL internet. Around January this year they increased the fees to $75 and by April to $85.

Since then I've switched to Teksavvy. I pay $60 / month for home phone with 2 features and DSL with a cap of 300Gb / month. The only thing I miss is the NA calling, but I have MagicJack for that. The 300 GB limit is not a problem, the v/mail was hardly used since we have an answering machine.

Primus had forced me to buy the modem for $35. I use the same one for Teksavvy. Teksavvy charged me a $25 activation fee. But overall I'm still on the + side.

SS thanks for sharing the Primus stuff, it is an eye opener.

Teksavvy is claiming there is no cable TV offering in my area, only DSL. Max limit is 5M. They also used the word "upto" 5M, I am a bit concerned about that. 75$ modem also required for this setup. No activation fee.

Any Satellite TV suggestions?

For the DSL, Primus told me upto 7M, but the max I got was around 4.25M. Teksavvy said upto 5M and the max l'm getting is still 4.25M. It depends on the line. I'm happy with the speed.

You can get a modem for cheaper than $75, unless if the provider is forcing you to buy one at that price.

What surprised me was inspire of the contract I had Primus still increased the rate.

Check out Bell .. Just kijiji 'bell home phone internet 50%' and you would come up with agents offering 50% discount for an year ..I believe for all 3 it should be under 60/- .

I was with Primus & Acananc earlier ... Now with Bell Fibe 6 internet & Majic Jack .. modem rental is included in the 23 / month internet fee . If you take more than one service this would be 18 / month with the bundle discount ....

Primus did increase my rate as well but on persisiting they agreed to get it down as agreed in the contract for the contract period .

Sudesh, did you take TSI land line or voip. I have their cable internet but I will be switching my phone as well. But I heard some weird stories about phone transfer and scared not to loose my number. Any tips or comments? Thanks
