We need to think about this a little logically. Is this really a big issue or is it the conservatives view point of being against Islam in general and siding with Jews now specifically the real cause. How many fully veiled woman you have seen while we took oath. And if so why are European woman allowed to wear a veil during the funerals or cover their head for respect. I personally think that this action is to create a fear among followers of Islam that Canada is not a welcome place for them. We could side with them as followers of Islam sometimes overtly display a lot of union like attitude but I am only afraid that this could be a hidden agenda for the conservatives. They are only starting with this and then it will also come to not being allowed to pray in temple, gurudwara or mosques.

This is no issue for the minister to get involved. This is rather a bold statement to tell all that conservatives are anti-islamist at this point.

BUT EVERY WHITE PERSON WHO CALLED INTO A DESI TALK SHOW(I was really surprised that goras are watching a desi program) were clearly mentioning that if you cannot accept the law GO BACK TO YOUR HOME COUNTRY.

I WAS TAKEN ABACK BY SO MANY CALLERS FROM MISSISSAUGA, BRAMPTON SAYING THE SAME THING ABOUT IF YOU DO NOT LIKE IT GO BACK.

STRONG LANGUAGE !.

well there can be no comparison with the kirpan or turban .
for Turban : Face is clearly visible and one can compare the face with a picture id like DL.

for kirpan : nobody can carry kirpan which has a blade more than 3 inches ( it is just symbolic ) . so will the people comparing veil/burqa with kirpan be happy to have symbolic 3 inch veil/burqa. Also in India people carry 4 feet/5 feet long kirpan .

I think people wanting to have veil/burqa should be considerate about others Human Rights as well and they should adapt to the times we are living in ( considering that terrorists can misuse the burqa to carry weapons ) .

Burqa can be potentially misused for several things.

For example, what if some guy wears burqa and goes to a ladies rest room with a hidden camera?

What if some thief goes with a burqa with a hidden gun to a bank/convenience store and demands cash?

Burqa is not a necessity in Islam, but is based on cultural tradition of some countries
