Old is gold. On ATN on Sat they showed the IIFA awards in SIngapore and on B4U they had old Chori chori (Raj/Nargis), believe me u, CC is still the best, after all these years. Pooja Bhatt couldn't touch Nargis' role in Dil Hain Ke Manta Nahin, but Amir Khan was good for Raj K. role. This w/e I want to see Amar Prem ( Rajesh/Sharmila)

I believe Kal Ho Na Ho was made by Karan Johar, right? His other "super_hit" movie that I was unfortunate enough to have seen was Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum.
I agree both movies were extremely popular with desis, and the NRI community gobbled them up like samosas from a popular street-vendor.
Does that mean they were good? IMHO no, both of them were probably the two most boring movies I've seen. When I go to a movie, I want to see some creativity, some good dialogue, a story that's real enough to stir up my emotions. Instead, what I got was the usual boring "super-rich" families, know-it-all annoying actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Cheddar cheesy dialogue and imagination that would shame an amoeba. Really, the best parts of both movies were the intermissions and I would've left if not for my friends who I went with.
But that's just me, I'm sure a lot of people disagree.

Last night I saw 'Sheen' , good theme , made on Kashmiri refugees' life. New hero/heroine but it was good to see Raj Babbar coming back with some powerfull role. He acted well, esp. his Kashmiri accent.

KHN and KKKG were both liked buy the audience, ans so they did good business, true it may not cater to Everyone, but which movie would,
Old movies might cater to one generation but not the other.
Boring for one may be throughly entertaining for other, so it just comes down to choice.
By the way KHN was produced by Karan and directed by his assistant.

Y'know every w/e I take a lambi list of all old movies to all the video shops I know in Scarsdale (nee Scarborough) and most of them smile benevolently and shake their heads when nothing comes up on the system. I go by the actors/actresses I like, don't know the review of these films, e.g. Gauri (Nutan) Parineeta (Meena K/Ashok K) Aavishkaar (Rajesh), Dooriyan (Uttam K), Kitaab (Uttam)......etc. Any prods as to where there is a really all inclusive old movies shop......
B.L. In India, aam aadmi wants to see these 'feel good' movies, he wants to see how rich people live (ofcourse real parts not shown) and the class they live in and movies like KHNH, KKKG provide that and I guess these movies are a hit in the west b'cause the people here see some of the style of living similar to theirs or maybe they want to imbibe something of what is shown (decor, behaviour ????...etc). why I'm saying this is b'cause I went to a wedding during the KKKG days and they had that song (can't remember much) with Amitabh singing (Kajol drops the 'Gamla') playing and the ladies were mimiking the original song (they had actually rehearsed).
It just shows that I remember Amanush scenes more than KHNH!!!!
