Hello!
I am a Canadian settled in India and I have been in India since the second quarter of 2011. Now that 2011 is coming to an end and 2012 is starting, I will be filing for my 2011 tax refund soon.
Since I have been away from Canada for 8 months or so, I have not been following up the latest developments with respect to the benefits that Canadians can receive while abroad.
Did the conservative govt. announce any freebies for Canadians who have settled outside Canada and who are not exploiting the welfare system of Canada? I am sure this info. Will help others too who have left Canada so that the new comers to Canada are left with better oppertunities.
Peace

hey tamilkuravan, didn't you just send comment on my post about bringing funds to Canada while being in India ? Please don't take others posts lightly and comment like you did.

Hey TK

While in Canada , Govt officials do not come to your home to tell the freebies, everything is on news websites. I believe those sites can be read while you are India as well.

Btw Answer to your question is Nothing more is being served , Govt being in cost cutting mode announced nothing rather discussed closing down on daycare faclities, museums and not so much for tax savings.

but in GTA there are projects to enhance public transport system, bringing new subway cars, roof maintenance going on at union station, an airport express train from union to pearson by 2013, track will be built soon along georgetown go route, lot of jobs!, new intnl airport in pickering (jobs!), new bigger stoufville hospital, new stations being added to GO train routes. etc Lot of preparations for panam games
....but not many consider those as freebies !

People not in Canada will lose out on medical freebees, CCTBs, daycare, freebee, schooling, parks, library facilities , free bread and public transport expense rebates. Sorry ! but I am sure God's own country offer lot to compensate for the loss.

For filing taxes, take your complex case to your tax consultant from last year for the rebates ! He will be able to tell more.. easy !

Peace
