Will the govt allow voting for OCIs who can get Indian passports after living in teh country for three (?) years.

Why should they have a say in political future in India?
Because
a. They invest in India, heavily !
b. Some of them are sent out by their companies to get revenues and business, attract consumers and investors to invest in Indian service industry. These assignees called NRIs continue to pay taxes in India. I was on such assignments for 4 years.
c. Ever heard of overseas market for movies, music, theatre, painting, sculputres and other art. NRI's give huge boost to these area.
d. They consume products exported by Indian businesses and thus promote export revenue
c. They promote Indian culture & identity thus Indian Tourism.
e. There are social services agency, missionaries , airlines , travel & tourism agencies, embassy services, people on UN mission etc.
f. Scientists and research fellas bring idea and new technology to India.
g. There are professors, teachers in many universities world wide who teach Hindi, sanskrit and other languages, Indian History, yoga, religion and other subjects related to India.
and there can be many more examples where NRIs' do contribute to India's growth and they deserve to chose the leaders who have clear motive to serve India.

We have the problems of corruption, black money and terrorism which have to be addressed on an emergency basis. Then we have the so called "intellectuals" and "secularists" speaking about kashmir not part of India, India not a nation at all etc. We have to ensure that mentioned black legs do not infiltrate genuine patriotic NRIs and bode evil for India?
Some months back, the Prime Minister of our enemy country spoke that after 26/11 Mumbai attacks MMS had to go back on his stand that he will not have any dialogue with Pakistan, BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE FROM THE PEOPLE OF INDIA !!!. Do not know whether to laugh or cry at his statement. He may not be incorrect after all, if not the "people of India", there is a significant and powerful traitor vote bank in this country, which may not recognize India or its Constitution, BUT STILL LIVE IN INDIA. Indians would like to call them "traitors" and naturally our enemy country PM will call them blood relatives and "People of India". Congress party in order to appease this vote bank may even cede away part of India to stay in power.

Contribution of NRIs is different from voting rights. There can be justification only if one is on a short term visa and will return to India very soon. For an NRI settled abroad for years and years, issues on the ground in India do not affect him/her. What difference does it make to NRI if price of daal is Rs. 100 in India or Rs. 50 per kg in India? For an NRI, it is only $1. What difference does it make to NRI whether there is a power cut, water shortage or poor road condition? People go to vote hoping that MLA/MP they elect will help solve some of the issues they are facing. How does voting by NRI fit into this picture?
Right now it is hardly going to make any difference because they will be granting rights only to those who are present in India during election time.

I have my parents, my sister, brother and other close relatives in India who are facing these issues and I would like to stand up for my folks back home and contribute towards their voting voice. Every vote matters afterall.
When I talk to them on phone , I feel the pain. May be I feel more after coming out of India that what our fellow Indians in India are missing and should be given as basic privilege.
There are thousands of student who came out only for studies and not to live away, there are millions of NRI's who soon would like to go back to India after completing their whatever purpose abroad , they have full right to cast vote and chose MLAs/MPs to resolve the issues which they will face, when back.
This is pure assumption that our feeling of issues is stoned out being away. perhaps something PM has already understood.
This is indeed a good news for every Indian , abroad or rooted.
