Hi All,

I have 5+ years of experience in software QA/Testing. Out of these 5 years of experience, i have 1 year canadian and 4+years experience in India (Full experience is in software testing in Banking domain). I am moving to Canada(Toronto) in next 3 months on open work permit/dependant work permit(my wife is joing college for ontario graduate certificate). My question is that should i search a software QA job as 1 year experience or 5+ years experience holder?

I heard that canadian experience counts and its easy to get a job when you have some canadian experience.

If i consider my experience in Banking domain( Banking software Testing), is there any chance that i can get job in Banks. Few Banks in canada are clients of my company and they are useing my company's software and i have around 1.5+ years experience on that product.

Please give me tips, how i can start searching job in canada from India?

Thansk & Regards
Preet Kamal

You will definitely get a job in Canada. the QA market in financial /banking domain is hot.

Do not delete Indian experience. market yourself as a 5 + or a 6 year exp. candidate.

Try to get some certification from Canadian Software Testing Board. It will be useful.

Good Luck

Thanks for immediate reply.

I will not delete Indian experience from my resume. I have completed ISTQB foundation level certificate.

Can you please provide me a sample format of Canadian style resume? So that I can start applying for jobs from India, I know it’s difficult to get job from India but there is no harm in doing that. I heard that in Canada your resume should not be more than 2 pages and according to my experience my resume should be 1 or 1.5 page. My Indian resume is 4 pages resume as in India if your resume is big than recruiters think that you have good knowledge and you have worked on lot of things.

One more thing, how much annual salary I can expect in Toronto/GTA on 5+ years of experience in software QA?

Thanks & Regards
Preet Kamal

Salary depends on if you want Contract or Full Time. If you are willing to travel, it will be even higher.

with your experience, you are in the mid range bracket of QA salaries

re.Format of resume, you can search tons on google. nobody's even on CD will give their resume

I am thinking for permanent position. Can i expect 60-65k on permanent position?

Can you please tell me around how much is for mid range brackets?

I tried to reduce pages of my resume and made it of 2 pages.

One more thing, will recruiters take interest to call on my India mobile phone? as i mentioned i am starting searching job from India first and i will be in Toronto on Aug 2012.

Thanks & Regards
Preet Kamal

-- No one will call you in India. There are already lot of people here looking for jobs here. In short you won't get job till you arrive here as employer will like to have face to face interview.
