Hi to all Experts,
I am currently on EI benefits and I am expecting a cheque from US from one of my friend, who owes me money actually, finally paying back... anyways
my query is , If i deposit that cheque onto my account, do I have to tell EI that I earned money for that particular week.
Also, does EI checks your bank accounts, I mean ,if it does then where is the privacy policy???
Privacy policy ?? huh forget your privacy after immigrating to Canada . I really don’t know if HRDC check your back balance but I am sure this check from your friend would not affect your EI eligibility.
Thanks and regards.

I am just wondering how much money one can get through EI benefits?
I know this can vary, but I am asking on avg.
Is it also true that landed immigrates are eligible for child benefits soon after the landing?
Cheers

Raj it is normally 60% of your last drwan salary. Please note that EI benefit is a taxable income, and taxes would be deducted at source.
You are eligible for the Child Tax Benefit from the day you land in Canada as an Immigrant
Thanks and regards.

Thanks Biomed and BlueFlame.
Is it necessary to have a Canadian job experience to get the EI benefits,
if yes how many months one have to work to be eligible for EI.
This is just to know for worse case backup
Will it give any bad remark if I apply for child benefit just after landing or cause any problem when I apply for citizenship?
Cheers

Yes you have to have Canadian Work Experience to get EI. Length of required work experience varies from province to province. For more details please check the following web site:
http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/gateways/nav/top_nav/program/ei.shtml
Child Tax Benefit is your right NOT a social assistance so it won’t affect your citizenship eligibility at all.
Thanks and regards,
