Thanks for the folks who responded to my queries reg. citizenship test. Oath is next month.

Now is the dilemma. I have to become a citizen because of the job. I have to apply for the Canadian passport as my new position requires me to travel to Europe and USA several times. If I apply for Canadian passport, will I have to surrender my Indian passport? I am extremely reluctant to give up my Indian passport.

Would there be anything to go around this? May be anything in the dual citizenship rules that are being framed?

Why do you want to keep Indian Passport?

If you want to maintain NRI status in India than get the PIO card, it is as good as Indian Passport.

I thought the Government of India has already passed the act allowing dual citizenship. Is that correct or am I mistaken? And if it has, then I do not see why anyone would have to surrender his Indian passport when getting Canadian citizenship.

The GOI has passed the act. But the rules are not framed. That's my understanding. Also it does not clearly say that those who have Indian passport now can keep it if they become citizens of USA or Canada (listed 16 countries) after the law was passed.

You are right Desi.... Till they form the procedure you have only one choice i.e. the PIO card.

not really... your rights would be almost as same as NRIs with few exceptions and those exceptions would be in relations of starting a business, buying the farmland in India, etc.

I will arrange more information on this issue.
