Hi guys,
Just joined this forum and its good to see that desi's are helping each other.. Many of you guys have experienced US visit visa process so I would like you guys to assess my chance of getting a US visit visa. Here is my profile:
22 year old single guy.
Been in Canada for 2 years.
Orginally came on a student visa.
Currently on a open post graduate work permit.
Working as a customer support person in a call centre.
Working in this position for 4 months now.
I earn approx. $1650 a month.(not too much I know)
Also completed a short one year course in the UK.
I would like to visit New York City for a couple of days because I always wanted to and never got the chance. I do have the money now so I was wondering if you guys can evaluate on my chances on getting a US B2 visit visa.
I know that NO ONE can tell if I will be successful or not but if you guys can give me a general opinion after reviewing my profile it will be a big help..
I dont know anyone in the US and I dont have any family in Canada either but still would like to spend a few days over there...Please let me know if I stand a chance or would it be just a waste of my time and money to apply?

I dont hink anybody can tell you for sure that you will get the VISA to US ( other than the official sitting in the US consulate ) .
having said that I have seen people with bleak chances of getting the VISA, getting it .
only way to find out is by applying for the VISA but you have to be prepared to get a rejection on your passport .
All the best .

Hello,
The major factor in getting visitor visa approved is how strongly you are tied to canada. How you convice the visa officer that you will be coming back to canada. Factors can be your permanent job here, family ties, property and status in canada (i.e. PR or work permit or student visa).
I got the US Visitor visa for 10 years last month. I didn't mentioned any family or friends in US. Also didnt showed any hotel booking. Interview officer asked about my status in canada, job, university education (i am currenly enrolled), family in canada and how long i am in canada.
Looking at your profile, your ties to canada are not really strong, this may go against you.
On positive side i have seen international students getting 10 years visa.
Inspite of all reasons above, I will strongly encourage you to apply.
P.S. You can never win a lottery unless you play

TheEagle,
Speculating a thousand ways and wondering about different types of questions VO might ask is only going to keep you anxious. Regardless of how many questions you may have, the truth is no one knows what the probability of you getting a visa is. Instead of building up unwanted anxiety, why don't you decide one way or the other? If you are willing/able to invest the fee amount and time, go for the visa with all the facts and documents and see what happens.
A denial is not the end of the world unless it is due to misrepresentation of facts, fraud or a negative record (criminal, etc). Hundreds, if not thousands have been denied the first time and have received visas successfully at later times.
