Hello,
I am an indian who is settled in the Gulf for the past 30+ years.
recently, we have received a call from CIC that our immigration has been approved and we are planning to land at the end of 2012.
I want to ask some simple questions.. please do reply and guide.
1. I have 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys
2. only 2 boys are above 18, rest of the 6 children are below 15.
can you please tell, in which area outside/inside toronto we can get a cheap/economical 4-5 bedroom flat.
also, we all will be permanent residents, can the mother apply for Child Tax benefit ?
also, since we will be newly landed immigrants and no income earned, do we need to file for TAX return ? in order to apply for child tax benefit ?
please note that the mother will not be doing a job initially.
please guide as we I will be looking for a job after landing and we want to benefit from the child benefits as well.
i would be grateful for the help.
Gaav basaa nahi aur lutere aa gaye..
I doubt if we have 4-5 bedroom flat (appartment) in Canada, you will have to rent a house I guess. Max BR you can get in a flat is three.
About the child tax benefit
Is that what your intention was to get Canadian PR ?
If they don't give you CTB (child Tax Benefit) you will not move from Gulf ?
You should be worried more about other things on setteling here instead of CTB.
About the tax Return
Yes, you must file tax return. Why do you say no income earned ? Are you not earning anything in Gulf ? You have to pay tax on your world income (converted to CAD off course). You must show your gulf income in order to get CTB.
Excuse me for being rude if you felt so, but I could not resist when I see people taking advantage of my tax money.
the INTENTION is NOT to come to Canada only for BENEFITS !!!
benefits help in settling are an advantage.
if you see people taking advantage of your tax money then your NOT THE ONLY TAX PAYER IN THE COUNTRY, in some form your any of your family member is/will take advantage of someone's == >> So better think before writing
NO INCOME EARNED ==> I meant, upon initial arrival in Canada, there would be NO INCOME EARNED IN CANADA and I thought filing a tax return meant is meant for income earned in Canada only
I hope this clear out the doubts you have got in understanding my previous post.
Dude,'
you are a perfect person to immigrate. 30 years in teh gulf will mean that you are around 55-60 years old. It is the right time to immigrate to Canada and enjoy a easy life. Donot expect to get a easy job here in Canada like the Gulf.
I am assuming that your child tax benefits/HST credit will be around $ 2000 a month. You can use it to have a easy life.
Just tell that your world income is around $ 35000 or less and not more than that. Otherwise your child tax benefit /HST credit will become almost Zero,
Your 2 children above 18 can get govt. loans and study and thus you will not have to spend a dime on their education.
Peace

thank you very much for the reply.
honestly speaking, my income is gulf is in reality is also 6000 Dirhams per month
which is roughly 2300 USD per month. since there are no taxes here, life is manageable easily.

Agreed with jigz787...
Focus on settlement and residence.......NOT CCTBs and other Tax credits. These credits you can get it from the date you arrive, even you apply later.
jigz787... do not worry about your tax money, his 8 chilrens will be paying higher tax amounts, what you are paying now, when you are getting retirement pensions
Rent a 3 bdroom Condo or a 5 bdroom house. Visit MLS.ca, enter the city you want to live in and check "For rent" and you will see bunch of rental properties. Do zoom in the map if you do not see red dots of properties.
hope this helps......
