My apologies if my question does not go well with your beliefs but I am sure some of you might know the answer also and would like to enlighten.

Hi guys, I have found the answer to this question which google can not find. (by talking different people)

Here' s story goes:

When hanumaji was in ashok vatika, he saw Sitaji doing sindoor on her forehead (Sindoor is a symbol of married women in hindu religion - for those who do not know)

So, Hanumanji curiously asked her, why is she doing that?
Sitaji replied, this is a symbol of marriage, and by this her husband Shri Ramji will have long and healthier life (She was doing such manokamna for doing this)

So, Hanumaji thought, he loves Ramji more than anybody else in the world. And than he put sindoor all over the body rather just putting a bindi.

Now sindoor was a dry powder and that started going all over the place, so he started putting oil on his body so it remained sticked.

After this it became a tradition to pour oil and having tilak.

Hope this satisfies all CDs curiosity

Thanks LnP for sharing the objective of oil.

That is your opinion. I considered it very much warranted and relevant bcs Sanhugo had unnecessarily mocked Hindu religion when the original query was very simple. Over the years that I have been active, I have pissed off quite a few of CDs (especially Obama loving, "seccular sick minded" and MMS/Sonia supporters. I guess you must be one of those guys). I, however, applaud CD moderators like Bluelobster with whose views I have hardly agreed but he has refrained from censoring me. That kind of work makes CD discussion really meaningful and unique. Toronto Star has already banned me for some vitriolic Op-Ed letters! So instead of crying hoarse, you should post something against or in favor of Hinduism. Have guts to reveal your colors!

What you have posted is an opinion as well. San Hugo asked a simple query. How you absurdly interpret and call someone a moron shows your limitation of tolerance to anything that you disagree. Also, please don't make ridiculous assumptions of who I am when you have no clue who I am.

Nightmare - he posted a question on why oil is offered. How the hell is that an attack on hinduism? You're pulling totally irrelevant stuff into this thread with Sonia and the Congress crap.

If he would not have, I would've asked the same question because I had no idea why this oil offering is done. Thanks to his question, I now know a couple of things that I did not before.

No need to respond to this, just let it go.
