Hi
Two years ago my husband starting working for a janitorial company. His pay was $12. Few weeks later they hired another person and they were paired. So basically they do the same job, has same hours, start and finish work at same time. They are under same union. However, few weeks ago, my husband found out that his co-worker has been paid $15. When he started talking about this to his others, he was surprised to find out that everyone in that building was paid $15.
Infact, his co-workers told him that it was unlawful to pay him $12, Since he is under the union, so it doesnt matter when you started or what you do. You start at $15.
When my husband went talk to the supervisor, he told him that, that my husband covered under different union, which from different building in a different city.
I wonder, is it legal to keep you working in one location at the same time deny the pay and benefits by keeping files at different branch?
thanks
Sure. If your husband's contract is under another union with different wages and does not restrict location of workplace, yes, the wages could be different. Your recourse would be to verify what is supervisor said about the "different union"

Your husband must go through collective agreement of said union. Should take help from the union rep and know the pay grade structure. it is possible that in last 2 years the agreement is revised. I am sure something positive will come out of this excercise.
I have not heard of union of Janotors in 15 years of my life in Canada. These are usually contract jobs where they are poorly paid and exploited or Govt job where they are paid more than immigrant engineering graduates. This seeems to be post by a troll.
Another "I have seen it all " persona.
What kind of a man are you to judge people BEHIND your computer screen .?
Shame on you as usual .
Enough said ..

Ask your HR department or your supervisor for a copy of your collective agreement. It has wage rate etc listed clearly. It will also list your union president etc who you can contact
