Currently with Rogers Internet and its renewal time:

Option A:
• Continue internet with Rogers
• Rogers Internet 80GB / 25mbps for 39.19 after discount for 12 months
• 1 year commitment
• No modem rental
• Continue to get 4% better choice discount on wireless (approx $2.50)
• Total monthly outflow bill will be $ 45 napprox includes HST and discount)

Option B:
• New connection with TSI
• TekSavvy (TSI) 300GB / 18mbps for 39.95
• No commitment
• Need to buy modem for $90
• Need to buy wireless router for $100 approx
• Activation fees $45 after 20 discount
• Shipping charges $10
• No more better choice discount on wireless (approx $2.50)
• Total monthly outflow will be $ 45.14 approx. If we spread one time cost (i.e. activation fees, modem, router etc) over 1 year than it will be $63

Note: Average monthly usage 65GB

Looking for more than two cents on below mentioned questions

• Which one is obvious choice?
• What other factors are to be considered before moving to TSI
• What will be impact of downgrading to 18mbps (on Vonage , Apple TV)

How come the Total monthly outflow is $112 approx includes HST and discount with Rogers where the base is $ 39.19?

Am I missing something?

Am I missing something here? Rogers is $45, Teksavvy is $63 but you have stated no reason why you are considering Teksavvy service. Your usage is 65 GB, so Teksavvy's 300 GB cap does not help.

Raj,

reason for considering TSI is no contract and on the other hand i will be locked up for 1 year with rogers. In addition to above what will be the impact of using 18 mbps from 25 mbps on vonage and apple tv

One year contract is not bad. I do not think you will see any visible difference between 18 or 25 MBPS on Vonage or Apple TV.

for all VOIP phone lines usually consistence band width of between 128 kbps to 256 kbps is more then enough hence even 3 mbps internet speed with no other (major) downloading or uploading going on you should be fine
