To those who say I should deal with it and expect to roll over is a wrong argument. We pump billions of dollars to the economy and India being a signatory of UN must abide by certain rules and policies.

Like I said before, she has NO ties to that country, and she was born here. Why does her dead grandfather have any bearing to our case. She is not a criminal, she hasn't done anything wrong so why the impartiality? If a gora applies from Canada he gets the visa, if a person of DESI origin applies to this DESI country they are made to go through such treatment like criminals.

Cmon no other country treats their citizens like this; comparing India to US is ridiculous because there is a system in place that makes sense, and secondly they are reasonable enough to understand the difference between black and white.

Chattersking:

1) A Visa is a privilege to enter a country. It is not a god given right.

2) India has a rich history of Pakistanis or people of Pakistani origin e.g. David headley, Sajid Mir of 26/11 fame etc , entering India for the purposes of destabilizing the country. India has every right to safeguard its borders.

3) Tomorrow if another 26/11 happens because somebody slipped through the cracks, will you take responsibility? Absolutely not!

4) I will tell you what discrimination and inhuman is...savagely killing of minorities in all the cities in Pakistan, demolishing a second temple in Karachi yesterday etc

5) Lately, people love to refer to themselves as Desi’s or South Asians, now that the idea of Pakistan lies in tatters. Amazing, huh?

As a Canadian, your GF gets all the privileges of access to Canadian consular facilities anywhere in the world and Canada does a great job in supporting its citizens. However, why should India care? Claiming India is treating its citizens like this is flawed since your GF is not an Indian.

In addition, your GF is not of Indian origin..she is of Pakistani origin...if we need to trace the ancestral roots...but wait....you yourself say she has no ties to the country ...so all of a sudden, where does desi origin and desi connection come from?

In any case, I can emphathize with your frustration as I agree some of the visa policies are ridiculous and getting through an Indian mission is like pulling a flea out of elephant's butt.

If you have to protest, don't send money to the "desi" countries or don't visit and thereby don't spend money on those countries. Unfortunately, these are the policies and it's your choice to roll over or lodge a protest at the Indian mission.

In any case, good luck to you both. Getting frustrated will not get you anywhere.

As much as your frustration is understandable - your griping is not .... Every country has their own specific rules for granting Visa ... Try explaining that to the US Govt who has denied Visas to Indian Army Officers in the past because they were positioned in Kashmir or to China who denies Visas to people from Arunachal Pradesh ..

Or perhaps you can petition to the UN explaining why India should follow directives from outside .....

Like some else has advised , perhaps you or your girl friend can approach the matter through the Canadian Consulate in India ..... who might be able to help .
