You must have a good camera. Take a few good pictures of the shower from a distance and close ups also. Take a good picture of the SHOWER MIXING VALVE and the FAUCET. (It is a single piece.)
Once you done that, check and see that they all are there in the camera. Go to a Canadian Tire store or Home depot or any nearest Plumbing Mart there and see a sales person. Show him the present set up. Ask for the 'FAUCET' that you are looking for and also ask him if it could be updated with the latest MOEN or PEERLESS or any other Mixing valve. In my books MOEN is the BEST. But some of the older homes will not permit the installation of the newer models unless you tear open the wall and do a complete configuration of these within the wall.
Tearing and rebuilding the wall and sometimes the splash tiles over it will take a day. The configuration, cutting new copper tubing, soldering and re-aligning will take a minimum of FOUR HOURS. If it is a quick job ONE HOUR.
A GREAT MASTER PLUMBER will charge you between 50 and 60 bucks an hour. That will be 250 bucks cash or 280 bucks with an invoice. The WALL will set you back like wise another 200 or more.
BUT, if the Helper at the store tells you that it is a quick job after seeing the picture you took with the Camera, then buy the Moen Shower unit $100 + and then call a plumber and ask him to install the darn thing. Pay him what ever he asks.
By the by, some charge you by the hour, and their hour starts from the time they leave their BASE. A few good ones will charge you $35/hr cash and might drag it a little and charge you TWO Hours for the whole job. Make sure you see it functioning. HOT is HOT and the COLD is COLD and it mixes well.
You got the drift...

When I do a job like this, I always end up with a Bernzomatic Propane kit, a pipe cutter(Close) and all of the bits and pieces of 1/2 inch tubing and a coil of silver solder and spelter and few odd wrenches at the end of the job. It is good for ever. Are you a plumber, by chance!!, should become one.
