Hello

I applied under the Federal Skilled Worker Program on Nov 21, 2012 and have not yet recieved my file number. The CIC website says there is no freeze on people who have an offer already:
As of July 1, 2012, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has temporarily stopped accepting applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). This temporary pause does not apply to those with a qualifying job offer or applying under the PhD stream. We will likely start accepting applications again when the revised FSWP selection criteria take effect. Proposed FSWP changes should come into force in 2013.

I fall in the arranged employment category as I already have a permanent job in Canada and I am working here on a valid work permit.

Do you know how much time it takes to get the file number?

Thanks in advance!!

Not knowing your employment, educational and language proficiency and other background, I will not venture into answering to your post here.

Here is a breakdown of things to tweak your curiosity. People who applied and are still waiting to hear from them are from the month of January to August, and most of them are under process. From Sept 2012 to this day, nothing has been done, except being plugged into the computers for further action. Most of these people currently have two to three years of experience and an IELTS score with a band of SIX or higher.

About a 100 are in advanced stages but still have not been responded by them. They will be the first to hear from them in June of the current year. They will be IN prior to December of this year.

I feel patience is a virtue and is price less. Those who are employed and making good bucks should keep on renewing their Work Permits and their Visa status "CURRENT" and carry on smartly as if they are Canadians, with the hope that every thing will fall in place and get to hear from them with a positive response soon. Get your annual check ups and maintain a healthy life style to get through with flying colours. Those applicants whose IELTS are going to expire and I might include the spouses too, please see if there are local schools and colleges that will provide them with an updated language courses in a language of their choice, with a certificate that will be accepted by the Immigration department, for FREE. The main reason being, it will be a requirement for them in the future for their Citizenship also. Need I stress more upon this requirement.

New language requirements under the new Federal Skilled Worker program...

CLB or IELTS

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has released more details about the new Federal Skilled Worker program, which will be launched in January of 2013, and it includes changes to how language proficiency is assessed.

If you are looking to apply for the "NEW" Federal Skilled Worker program, it’s best to start by understanding the NEW language requirements and to write your exam as soon as possible so that you don’t miss the window of opportunity before the quota fills up.” The stress is upon the LANGUAGE SKILLS.

“CIC plans to significantly increase the maximum points awarded for proficiency in the English and French languages from 24 points to 28 points, making language the single biggest factor in an application’s chances of being accepted.”

Details of the proposed changes will be provided upon request.

FH

The CIC considers your experience here in Canada and provides you with merit & considers you as a successful candidate and a desirable one at that.
You also have the option of writing to them directly and finding the same from them directly. Please post it to the board for others to read. Looking at your application, they will find that it does not call for any further supplement from you.
