Hey Ritslondon...it's a 17 day course and has a test component as well. Once you pass the tests, you've gotta get your standard first aid/CPR certification as well - a couple of days extra. You'll also have to submit a basic criminal check certificate and a medical certificate which your doctor will sign.
Course costs $600 approx..factor in another 100 or so for first aid/CPR

Driving a cab is kinda like running your business. You get a cab from a plate holder for approx 500-600$ weekly, drive 12 hours a day, 7 days. You keep what you make, no boss to report to, work when you want to. But...no guarantees on what your day will be like...
I know cabbies who make anything from 150 - 300$ a day...and yes, they live in their own houses/condos...no kidding.
