Hello everyone,
I am traveling frm india in couple of days. I am plnning to bring about 15 kgs of mango.
we have 5 bags of 23 kgs. I will separte all them in 5 different bags. What i really want to know if i am allowed to bring mangoes by plane?
This is first time i am carrying them with me.
can sum1 share rheir experoence?
I am using emirates airline.

Fruits and vegetables: fresh
depending on the country of origin, entry may be severely restricted or prohibited
a Plant Protection Import Permit from the country of origin may be required
must be free of all growing media, soil and/or related matter
When products are permitted, there is a maximum limit of

15 packages or fewer
weight not to exceed 250 kilograms per person
may be subject to regulations in the province of destination
Root vegetables (for example, carrots, potatoes and so on)

restricted
must be 1.5 centimetres or less in thickness

Don't do it. They simply frown upon fresh food being imported into Canada.

Not only might your customs clearance be delayed, but your name may be electronically flagged in their system and pulled up each time you pass through the customs/immigration channel in future.

Incase you plan to go ahead and bring them in anyways just let us know how it went. I would like to bring in some mangos from AP. Some of the best varieties in the world are grown in AP.

Why dont you call CBP and get first hand info? I think only certain categories of mangoes are allowed e.g. alphonso is for sure allowed not sure about the other mangoes.
Good luck..if you decide to bring it can you make it 16 KG? I will take 1 kg <grin>

Add me also ... along with Bhootnath ... but for two Kgs ( one Banginapalli variety to cut and eat .... and Nujiveedu Rasalu .... for ... oh my god .. I can't wait.
I prey for you so that Customs do not throw them into garbage.

I did bring them without any hassles. Almost a dozen banginapalli and 3 kobbari mamidi. i gave few to the check in counter due to excessive weight :-(
