Hi

I am planning to visit the rockies this Summer. the dates are around July 3rd week. when I search on the web the car rental for 8 days comes to $550 to 600. Can someone suggest a better deal. I plan to rent the car from the Calgary airport and return it there.

also I was advised by a friend to stay a night at the fairmount hotel which are really expensive. Is it worth it. all suggestions are welcome and thank you in advance.

Ace Car Rentals gives you a good deal. But they are not in the airport. But will shuttle you to their location.

TOYOTA YARIS @ 28.+ /Day comes to $305/ Week You can try any car for a week for just an extra 20 spot. They have all kinds of Xtra charges, I do not know what they are for. See if you can get the waiver for $10/ per day. That is a CYA.

Take a set of pictures of the car with time and date Before and After.

Hello guys ....
Planning Banff national park vacation this year.... Expedia Flight + Hotel + Car comes to 1500 per person for 5 days from Toronto to Calgary.....Is this fair amount or should look for local travel agents?

Any ideas experience is welcome.....because going there first time

Summer is the high season for Banff and the rockies - but also the best time.
The hotels are expensive inside the Banff national park - you have option to book hotels/motel in Canmore which is just at the base of the park. You might also find weekly apartment rentals which might be cheaper. From Canmore to Banff is just 1 hour drive, so if you can start early, it should not be a problem.

WEBSTER is the largest tour operator there and they run regular buses and tours to most places. Most of the tours include the cost of attraction.

Remember, BANFF is a national park and there is a daily $20.00 entrance fee per vehicle - which you dont have to pay when travelling by tours.

A lot of adventure activities originate from Canmore which include transportation.

Please research this option and plan according to budget.

We booked a rental car from Regina airport - which had unlimited km allowance. However Calgary Airport rentals have 200 km daily allowance. Our trip started from Regina and ended in Regina, so the rental plan worked for us. Otherwise it is an 8 hour drive from Regina to Calgary.

Good luck and have fun. It is the most beautiful place on earth!

I visited Alberta a couple of years ago. Landed in Calgary and took the airport/hotel shuttle to the hotel. I rented from around the hotel (those generally work out to be cheaper than renting from the airport). Drove to Banff from there on to Jasper and returned the rental at Edmonton airport. I had unlimited kms.

Banff hotels are expensive at this time of the year. I did explore staying at Canmore, but stayed away from it only 'cause of the distance (from Banff).

I don't remember paying the park fees, or even if I did it was only once while entering. I spent around 3 days in Banff and Jasper each.

If you're still "planning" for this summer's visit, the rates will be at it's peak. These trips need to be booked at least 3 to 4 months in advance.

Canmore is outside the Banff national park and you don't pay the entry fee while in Canmore but to enter Banff, you need to pay the park entry fee.

While here, you also need to plan the trip to Jasper which is about 300km north of Banff. This drive very scenic, on the way, you get to visit Lake Louise, Payto lake, Athabasca Glacier and several waterfalls etc.

If you are visiting this week, there is Calgary Stampede going on and lasts till Sun. You may find the hotel bookings rather expensive during this time.
