Good move TK you are back in India. You can cook as much rice you want to and get the cheap pressure cooker too. 3/4th population of south asian countries would go starving if pressure cookers banned.

Bad timing is all I can say :)

A number of Indian students starting new at US Universities tend to bring pressure cookers. I am sure others too. He was bringing the cooker for his nephew who is a student at U of Toledo.

Anyway, the bigger flag appears to be a missing page on this dude's passport.

There were way too many red flags for security to ignore :

1. Pressure cooker.
2. Lie when asked.
3. Missing pages in PP.
4. Nationality.

He will have to pass through a lot of ordeal and hopefully he is innocent.

I believe the sequence was:

1. Nationality alert
2. Found missing PP page
3. Further search of bag revealed the cooker
4. ...and came the lie (or bad English that was totally misinterpreted)

Though I am a fan of rice, I donot cook rice in pressure cooker. This is for your information. I mostly cook beef or Pork in it.
