Hi
I am planning to buy VOLKSWAGEN JETTA, DIESEL 2013
or MAZADA 3 SKYLINE 2013,
Any one can guide me which one is best and why??
One more question, some one says if finance the car ,u should be fully insured.
and dealer says its not necessary, my insurance is with less liability .
Any focus on this topic?
Thanks
Mac

Hi Mac,

Just curious to know why you narrowed down on these 2 cars? I am also shopping for a new car and would like to know your reasons.

I am debating between the Hyundai Elantra GT and the Sonata Hybrid or Subaru Impreza Touring.

Lets compare notes.

Yes, if the car is finance, you need to have comprehensive insurance. Just imagine - with a 1-2 year old (or even brand new) car, if you experience a collision where the car is a total write-off, the lender's only collateral is gone. How will they be able to recover their due?

Guys
In order to narrow down your search first and foremost thing you should do is determine what you expect from a car and what is important to you .
VW ( for that matters most german cars ) have a very good dynamics and are fun to drive . They are little "manly" when it comes to handling i.e. steers harder . Once out of warranty , repairs can leave a deep hole in wallets .
Diesel cars last longer and require less repairs . They are economical for longer runs .

Japanese / Subaru - Known for reliability and low mntce cost . Some have more features than others . I found Toyota / Lexus is atleast 5 yrs ahead of Honda / Acura in terms of advance features .

Hiren - Subaru beats Hyundai hands down any given day in terms of reliability and resale value . If it was me I will consider Hyundai only if budget was a constraint .

Hybrid : Hybrid vehicles are not for everyone . One has to really get used to them and it may take longer before you start liking your vehicle . If you are the person who wants to beat everyone on red light than Hybrid is not suitable . They have a slower pickup than their gas counter models. Hybrids are environmental friendly if that matters to you and over all have the lowest mntce cost besides good average . I personally own Lexus RX 450H and will not trade for any car .
Best part is that you dont have to worry about Emission test ever as they are exempted.

Hope that helps a little .

AG

Thank you Ashwaniji,

Hyundai over Subaru - only concern is $$ :)

Sonata Hybrid vs Elantra GT - very closely priced currently due to factory rebates. I am not a racer, in fact my wife always calls me 'granny driver'.. :) so I am ok with slow pickups.

Will talk to you soon.

Hi
Thanks for reply.,
The reason i select this 2 car is
both has very good fuel mileage ,infact VW diesel is excellent.
I am driving almost 100km per day.
My friends are dirving VW DIESEL since last 5 year ,with no complain. They are lamost 300000 km on board.still it maintain gas mileage.
Public review for VW jetta diesel and MAZDA 3Skyline is very good.
On first we try for Hundai elentra, but all the owner of elentra are compaining about
fuel mileage .
VW dealer giving me good deal for my old 2000 Mazda. So in that case the price different between VW DIESEL and Mazda 3 is very less.
Anyway ,we decide to go for VW JETTA DEISEL TDI.
Thanks again
Mac

For consistently long drives, Jetta TDI makes sense.

I have 1 Hyundai for past 6.5 yrs and generally quite satisfied with it. Minor problems here and there, but nothing very expensive yet (fingers crossed). It is good value for $$ spent.

MAZDA is over rated. It is a good car, but not good value.

This is just my opinion, others might differ.

Mrpandya - Congratulations on selecting the right vehicle . VW are fun to drive and are very stable especially when you go 100 KM/Hr and higher .
Mazda is well known for rust issues .

Hiren : I do understand that $ plays a big role in chosing the vehicle but please factor in resale price of vehicle in 05 yrs - 07 yrs ( regardless of your opinion as of today ) .

If you are absolutely adamant on driving the vehicle to the ground than it changes the game plan .
Just to let you know that I am not accepting any calls from you if you wanna talk .
You know where to find me ...LOL

Good luck guys with your decisions . Car is the second biggest investment in Canada ( no matter how good or bad investment it is )
