One sincere advice never ever try to take these things in your own hand, leave it to professionals. One of my neighbor’s attics was infested with bats; she hired ICE to get rid of them.

This company offered to assess other housed in the neighborhood for infestation for a fee of $ 125.00. I think this would be your best bet, once you know what animal you are dealing with thn you can take necessary steps to get rid of them.

I just called wildlife control company to come over for inspection. He said the entry is definitely made by raccoon and there is some damage done on shingles. He has given an estimate of $670. Does anyone has recommendation of a decent company?

This guy from Toronto Star was there. He wrote this article.
Here is his article and the costs for removal of the critters associated with it. Please read.

If the Raccoon has left the roof, then, seal the roof entry with coarse, hard MESH. That is it. No more cost after they have left. Don't give a chance for re-entry.

Not a good alternative, but if they cover repolacing shingles and removing Raccoons then I would have just paid it off...
BTW, did you check with house insurance if they cover the expenses?

Bad English . What I wanted to convey was that I do not have any better/cheaper alternative to offer but if I were at your place, I would have just paid them off. Can't afford loosing couple of nights sleep knowing an animal is roaming around in attic with open roof.
Thanks for providing the info on insurance (and keeping cool on some of the jokes and idiotic comments).
