It will also give you time to feel around what it is to work in a Cdn company. However, be careful not to accept 'anything' as you may get stuck without career progress.

Wow !
Are you even in touch with reality.
A newbie to Canada, with out Canadian experience and you are still looking at $ 20-30 an hour first job?
Good luck to the OP

You are right. You, who does not live in Canada and advocates lying and cheating on the resume is the best person with the sense of reality about Canada.

TK, if you really strive, you can broaden your thinking with a better view of what's really out there, regardless of where you live. You cannot advance your life through a narrow view of everything around you. There are many newbies I know who have found success, not only in the pay range, job, etc but other aspects of life within few months of their landing and none of my circle are in IT.

In the most recent example, one guy secured a Advance Engineering position with Loblaw 2 months after landing, a position that was slightly higher than 75k.

There's lot more out there than food banks. You just refuse to see it.

Thanks Dimple for your views.
Anyways, I am not in Canada now and hence need not worry on who get a job or not. But I will be always there to help people who are suffering in Canada.
With this, I bid goodbye to just this thread.

MURALI... actually you are not in touch with reality !!!

I landed in June 2005 & in October 2005 after doing my CO-OP (volunteer) for 3 months, I landed a job with more than $25/hour and I am still working with that company since then. In those 3 months I attended more than 10 interviews and even had couple of offers !!! In recession my company also went thru bad time & around 25 guys were let go with pink slips, all white guys,Chinese guys & couple of Indians too. But myself and other lots of Indians were kept. So what does that tell you about Canada??? All my friends along in circle are right now earning more than $25/hour jobs and are well settled with houses & family. And none of those as I mentioned earlier, is in IT or Finance.

Better get out of the racism and Canada is bad mentality.... and atleast let the world get better. "Nobody can do it if you cannot" is wrong mentality !!!

Stay positive, upgrade yourselves including your soft skills and everything should be fine

I was going through the website for info on career bridge and there is only little. Has anybody done their intern-ship there or know of somebody who did?
To kick-off career bridge application, I need to get my credentials assessed. Is U of T the best place to do it? A person told me that one can put "U of T engineering, comparative" in the education field of the resume and not mention where exactly one completed his/her engineering!
Another thing is PEO registration, would they do a separate assessment even after I have done it through U of T? Is the LIEP program good?
One more thing, I did my language assessment at YMCA and am at LINC 8. They suggest to take up either ELT or OSLT, are these programs useful? ELT seems to have a work placement program.
I'm actually a little confused on what to do next.

Money isn't a matter now, I just want to get in but that doesn't mean that I have to rate myself low. I did hear from a few that if you are not asking what the market is offering the employer may feel that you are not worth it. I suppose for my field and experience 20-25/hr is the norm. My husband gets a little more but he has been given the job only based on a period of his 3-yr experience and not on his overall 9-yr experience.
