Hi all

How r u guys, I m Canadian citizen now I m thinking to apply for us citizenship than planning to go back permenantly to india after 2 years.

confusion : 1. if I will get citizenship in us

2. If I will go to india permenant after I will get us citizenship

3. I will have to pay taxes in India and usa

That's true ? I m thinking I will give up my GC

I don't want to pay taxes in both countries.

What I have to do ?

I don't want to pay taxes in both countries.

What I have to do ?

-- There is no question of "giving up" your GC - you will automatically lose it once you become a US citizen - and US taxes your worldwide income irrespective of your place of residence. To avoid that, you need to abandon your plan of applying for the USC and give up your GC.

yes u r right brother I don't hv choice, I will not apply for usc. I m fine with Canadian citizenship.

If I m Canadian citizen and if I move to india I have to pay any taxes in Canada ?

Thanks

After you officially declare non-resident status, you do not have to file any taxes with Canada.

You'll have to give up all relevant ties to Canada in order to be able to claim non-resident status.
