No one will come to public life just for 5 years and then fade as a common man. The society is money minded these days (nothing wrong with that). The people can throw the MLA out, if he does not perform.
Other problem is that if MLA is restricted to one term, he may want to steal the max. money that he can in 5 years and run away. Also he canot make significant contribution to the society if he is in power for only 1 terms.
Hope this helps.

Peace by Murali

With you on that.

TK & Febpreet

Thanks for your thoughts.

If the MLA is a corrupt person he will be so whether it is for 5, 15 or 25 years.

Does not Obama get only 2 terms? It is said that in developed democratic countries in Europe the people's reps queue up at cinemas ands eat at restaurants just like common man. Even in our own West Bengal Didi doesn't have any big chamcha group unlike TN where even for filing nomination only to lose the deposit the candidate comes with a dozen SUVs.

Money too is important. These days MLAs and MPs have ensured a handsome pay and pension benefits unlike those decades immediately after Mahatma Gandhi. All of them vote en mass regarding that.

If the MLA really cares for his organization as to why and for what purpose they are on the streets, he may not mind quitting after 5 years. He can allow one of his colleagues who did the sloganeering and campaigning to ensure his victory, to take his place.

If 5 years is too early, may be the party high command can consider another term in exceptionally deserving cases.

Assuming that the all sitting MLAs want another term, that is where all tamasha starts. The AAP from being a Movement to cleanse the political system may end up having all the strappings of a regular political party.

Now the AAP MLAs will have to contend with the Delhi State Government employees who may be the real villains, in the money and the programs actually not reaching the people. At least the MLAs can be thrown out in 5 years if they are corrupt, but the corrupt govt. employee not until he is 58 or 60.

I agree with San-Hugo that AAP is for a long haul. More they stay in politics, more they will be able to extort. Their main investor Prashant Bhushan and his father are known extortionist. If one has been familiar with Indian politics and its under currents, they would know this for a fact.

Huh, just because you are confused to the core and easily swayed by the media survey, do not think I have same fickle mind. I can clearly and firmly diffrentiate between corrupt and non-corrupt, communist and pure form democracy, good and bad governance which you are failing to do so, continually. May be problem with your generation. Look where you guys haven taken the country to...third world dump its is..needs lot of clean up and thats why jhadooo.. Its matter of few hours, you will know.
At this stage there are only two results possible one AAP wins or hung assembly. But for me AAP is already in power as we clearly see sea change in attitudes of politician and direction in which parties want to go.
Ok let me make you happy, hypothetically and really hypothetically if AAP is in opposition, it will still put lot lot of pressure on ruling party and YOU will see the difference in constituencies where AAP candidate will win verses other constituencis in coming times. stay put and keep watching...Eventually AAP is here to stay and do much needed clean up..

Good luck to your akas, some of them will get call from karma soon.

Lol! You need to improve your reading and comprehension abilities else like Pappu you will keep sneering and fumbling. By the way, when you blame my generation, it includes your father too. Remember that. I was part of “Navnirman” agitation in Gujarat which preceded J.P. Movement. In fact, JP was swayed and persuaded by Navnirman agitation, its energy and its ideals. Khujli movement would fade against that.

I also agreed that AAP has already won, if you had read my post carefully. I acknowledged that due to voting share that AAP commands, their price would have gone up to 500 – 1,000 crores range. I just hope that he returns Anna 3 or 4 crore or whatever he collected using his name.

As regards his politics, AAP is a new Avatar of communists who have existed and provided clean, efficient and exemplary administration to people of West Bengal and Keral. Lol! One has to be naïve or stupid to believe that a guy whose solution is to expand “Government schools” and provide education has any morals. Of course, that will be another “Indira” like solution. Raise the morons and they will turn into vote bank. Lol! It ttok 50 years for WB people to get rid of CPM. However, I am more optimistic that AAP/Khujli would disintegrate a little more quickly for in this social media age, he would be exposed more quickly.

Till then you can enjoy your juvenile fantasy. Lol!

The results are out. BJP - 32; Congress - 8; AAP - 28; Others - 2.

Congress sensing its rout on the election day (even Sheila Dixit has lost her seat by a margin of 10,000 votes), implemented its Plan B of preventing BJP from gaining absolute majority. This they did by extending the voting time at booths till 8.30PM and before that calling out at 5.15PM through English news channels Election Analysis programs that a 55% voter turn out would be favorable for BJP and only above 65% for AAP. Until 3.00PM the voter turn out was only about 33% and 5 PM app.50% expecting to up to 55% max. But after about 5.30PM there was a surge at the booths.

Why the poll analysis were being telecast even when the voting was happening between 5.30PM and 8.30PM? Or these news channels above EC diktat. Should they not have suspended the telecast till 8.30PM until the actual extended voting hours was over. If there was nothing wrong in what they did why they should wait till 5.30PM. They could have as well telecast the predictions morning 7.00AM itself before anyone goes to the poll booth (i.e., their earlier analysis of other polls).

What has happened is similar to insider trading.

English news channels too think that minorities not voting en mass for a particular political party, even if they are genuine and can give good governance,is democracy and secularism, majority voting for a particular party is communalism.

Anything anti-national is welcome for them and pro-national is something to be done away with. BJP just like Hinduism is one such entity for these English News channels. Why they should be so? For they are after all "English".

Now it remains to be seen whether what has happened is Lord Krishna's act or Shakuni's deceit, only time and unfolding events can tell.

Kejriwal has done nothing but a spoiler in the entire process.. Wait some time, my assumption is, he will be like a MSY of UP.
