you will be eligible for a max of 228 CAD per child, depending on your previous previous years earnings. YOu will have to apply in CCRA in person (for the process to be faster) or you can apply thru mail. By you I mean your wife has to apply and she will get the money. She needs a bank account and / or a telephone line bill on her name to apply.

Faizal,

The previous years income means what one earned in the previous job from where he/she lands. Just thought of it, if a person who had worked in Germany before happens to land with a person who has worked in Bangladesh before, obviously whatever the benefit that they would be getting is going to be disproportionate. Are there any other determining factors besides previous year income.

Hey,

I thought that this site was moderated by people. Iam quite new to ths site and was under the impression that this forum helps in information sharing.

Well on a lighter vein, Lalooji, Bihar ki to Barah Baaja di, Aaj kal Railways ki bajaa rahe hain. Tone down the language bro, I too am a Bihari and feel awkward when I see inappropriate language being used in such forums.

When you first land at the airport, after the immigration clearance, the immigration officer would give you some informaton booklets and one of these would be Child and Family Benefit booklet. If you do not get it through the Immigration officer, you can see it might be displayed there for you to take it yourselves or you can later get it from CCRA either by mail or by visiting their office personally or you can print the form from the internet.

Shriman Laloo Yadav has posted the URL of the site and it would give you all the information you are looking for this benefit.

For the first time, you would have to apply using the form from this booklet and you will have to mention your and your spouse world income for the last 2 or 3 years. You can convert your currency in to equivalent Canadian Dollars (the conversion rate would be in the booklet or from the site) and complete the form and mail it to the address mentioned. It would take a month or so and you would get the benefits you are entitled to from the date of your landing in Canada.

You should apply for it as early as possible as they would give you in back payments for up to 11 months only. The booklet would guide you about the requirements of SIN number and bank accounts etc.

Starting from next year, the CCRA will take all this information from your Tax return which you have to file even if you do not have any taxable income or tax payable because they would not pay you this child benefit or GST credits if you do not file the tax return.

I hope it clarifies further.
