A smart TV can be dumber than connecting a laptop to your un smart TV ... Connecting a cheap old laptop in my opinion is a better way to see things from the internet rather than paying the price of a smart TV which has so limited choice.
Go smart .. Connect an old laptop through HDMI .

Yes, Smart TV doesn't have much viability. It's just few added dollars to your TV. Buy non-smart, and as Fido said connect the laptop or buy a media box, better still Chromecast to make it truly Smart.
Have been researching, and one of the local Western Canadian store (Visions Electronics) listed this LG (55LB6000) for $697. The same they were selling for $800 on Friday. This is the cheapest I found at this price as compared to the Costco, BB, FS, Amazon, etc. With all Environ fee, taxes, and extended warranty, it comes to $990. While at Costco, BB, FS, total price is going upwards to $1183, 1217, 1217, respectively.
peacock1, you're right. Costco TVs are a bit expansive than the rest of the stores. Only positive is their return policies and warranties. They advertise 90 days' return policy on TVs.
I think I would check this (LG: $697) out in the evening, and might pick as well if it is still available. Will try at Best buy for price match first. This particular model is one notch higher than the one I mentioned in my last post.
I d rather wait till Boxing Day ... in Canada , we still get the biggest discounts then.

As I got fixated on this particular TV, I bought one last night with 60 days' price match guarantee. If the price of this TV comes down in any store within the next 60 days, they will match it and return me the difference. I can't complain enough.
An interesting story. I went to Futureshop where the same TV was selling for $899. I wanted to buy from them as they have 30 days' return, while this particular store had 15. Asked about the price match. They said they would do it as long as this particular store (Visions Electronics) still has this TV in stock. This rep. called the store and made an excuse that Visions' phone was not connecting. I asked him the number and called them myself and booked the TV on the phone. I went back to another Futureshop Rep and asked for the same deal to which he said they would gladly match the price. Checked in their system and found 2 in stock. He went away, told me he was going to look into the warehouse. He then came back and (made an excuse) that they no longer have the TV in stock. I was surprised and shocked, since their computer is updated with the real time inventory (I worked and supported Retail Systems). In the whole affair their support was dismal and rude. I left the store and bought it for the reduced price at Visions. I mean, they could simply tell me that the price match was not possible. Anyhow! Day in life . I heard various Futureshop horror stories, but experienced personally for the first time.
Overall, very happy with the purchase. Hooked it up, and loved the picture quality and the performance - utterly awesome!
Congratulations ... way to go !!
You have got your wish and with an addition of a potential cash back ...
Good to know that you are enjoying ... your patience paid off !!

Thanks Fido. I saw a TV today on all of the major stores (including Amazon) and they are not selling for less than a $1000. Happy with the purchase, so far.
