Overall I would tend to agree with the above though the stealing part could be a rare exception. I can tolerate desis for itsy bitsy jobs around the house but for a major project I would never trust them. From my experience, they do not (I'm not saying cannot) provide the kind of finish and neatness that the non-desis provide. Of course there would always be exceptions on either side of the field. On the flip side, the desis will always quote you less. But then this only proves the old adage, you get what you pay for.
