Saravana Bhavan specializes in the holy trinity of south Indian snacks known as tiffin: They are Dosa, Idli and Vadai. All are made from ground rice and lentils, with remarkably different results. Dosas are crispy golden crepes that are most deliciously served with a masala of potato and onion; vadas are deep-fried savory doughnuts; and idlis, the south’s staple food, are pure-white saucer-shaped steamed cakes. At most branches of Saravana Bhavan in Chennai, you can also find for sale a little book titled, “I Set My Heart on Victory.” First published in 1997, the book is Rajagopal’s memoir and manifesto, a curious blend of mythmaking and self-effacement.

Nice to read about the Annachi who is from state and caste, although from a different religion.
HSB these days and in those days were costly but we were exposed to McDonalds like precision , cleanliness and fastness. The delicacies were very tastey and made of high quality stuff.
Now a days, HSB food is not that great. Donot know if the standard has gone down or if we are more used to burgers, pizza's and the like.
How is HSB, Mississauga doing these days ?

I 've been to Saravana Bhavan recently. You will certainly get that "desi" experience. The food is OK ... but the kind of authentic aroma and taste of dosa with delicious potato curry that go fine a dosa and tasty Sambar was missing. The items could not increase my appetite. We should go only when we are really hungry.

It totally depends on who you are?
Are you a NI or a SI?
NI's taste is totally different from an SI who has been more used to the taste of SI dishes.
I mean no wrong but just point out that SI's might be the best ones to answer this.
