Hi ,

I would appreciate advice on the following :

My parents landed recently but my father had a tough time with CBSA .. He had some medical condition (which came in the blood test ) observed by the CHC designated medical center in India after which he took treatment from the same medical center and was given a clean chit of recovery as well a letter stating so as well .

They had assumed that the Medical Center must have advise the CHC in this regard although their COPR mentions medical condition , treatment and compliance thereof.

The CBSA Officer asked for the papers which he did not have and gave him 2 months to comply.

My qs -

a. What does comply here mean ..Should we try and search for the paper from the Medical Center and send it to CBSA or send it to CIC ?

b. Can we ask the medical center in India to send the report again and if yes should they send it to CIC or CBSA ?

c. Can we get the blood test done here and if yes how ? ...He is not on OHIP currently . ?

Thanks

The Centers that do the Medical Testing for the Canadian Immigration for entry into Canada, submit the report to an Officer in charge in the Canadian Embassy. There are PATHS that it takes to reach the Medical Groups, who know the limits that are permitted in the blood tests and analysis as noted in their system. If there are any limits that were found not upto their expectation in your Parents' Blood Test, it then gets forwarded to the same Immigration Officer who tells them what it is and makes a request for rectification to the Immigrant. In this instance it is your Father who is asked to go through the testing after remedying the condtion that they expect from him.

Even though your Father cleared the requirement, the Test Center cannot reconcile the same to your Father's files, because, they do not have the file number and other required details to send it to.

The ONUS is on the IMMIGRANT to do it by himself. So, get the proper report and submit it to the required office there and channel it to reach the right person. So send it by SPEED POST to them. Retain a couple of copies here where they live. {Should not take 60 days minus a few}

Even if they were permitted to enter into Canada with that clearance letter, it might take its own sweet time to get entered into his files. As we say in common english, "There is a slip between the cup and the lip" and your Father is in Canada now, because the I.O. at the POE believed him, but only after he got another O.K. from some one superior there, who knows that they will not issue an Immigrant visa and stamp a Passport and issue to him a COPR without that reqired clearnace.

Give him a big hug and tell him that he is O.K. and the papers will be cleared in due course. Also not to worry too much about the incidence.

Now for the Second set of clearance, if you know that his condition currently is better or superior, then call the CIC call center and request them for a recognized center near by and issue to him the set of forms that need to get filled a SECOND TIMEand to a location to which the report has to be sent (DIRECTLY) to them. Otherwise monitor the condition for a few more months and there are Centers to which he can go and get it checked for free. CIC might be in a position to give you their location. Also search with Google.

You still have 60- days to comply. It will cost you a few bucks, then so be it.

Now open up the files once more and start the patch work.

Hey Fido,

Generally the COPR will mention the medical condition and issue an accompanying paper with telephone numbers of nurses to contact in the Toronto Public Health; TPH will open a File for your Dad and give him sufficient time to undergo the tests, including extra time so that he can get the OHIP and get coverage !

I agree with Many.
A friend's in laws experienced the same when they landed but then there were given the slip which had the address to where they should report to get it regularized by Canada.
Looks like they might have missed that slip.

Thanks for the information folks .

Fortunately we have found the CHC Authorized Medical Center doctor's paper clearing the medical condition in India and advising that a positive report may be sent to CHC .... And this paper is on its way here .

I am thinking of sending copies of this letter to CHC Delhi , CBSA , The Medical Center asking them to submit the clearance to CHC if not already done . Also would speak with CIC and CBSA as to whether this submission would be enough or if they need anything further to be done.

In case they advise to get the test done here as well , will get it done here after speaking with my family doctors and of course CD s over here .
