Dear fellows,
I want to move some cash from Saudi to my account in Canada. I have TD Canada Trust account, but when i went to western union with swift code and other details,...they couldn't trace my bank and said that this bank was not in their list. Al rajhi Taweel says that it will go via UK, will take a lot of time, and I have to bear transfer fees at three places, here in Saudi SAR 85, some unknown amount in UK and C$ 17.5 in Canada. And even after paying this much, there is no guarantee that money will reach my account, it may come back sometimes. Anyone who has wired money from Riyadh to Canada, pls share your experience. urgent
Thanks
Cash is a safe way.
Next take a DD and send it to your wife through post. For clearing it may take a week or 10 days.
That has been my experience.
However CD seniors can advise better !

Thanks, do you think its wise to carry 30 to 40K cash ! DD is good option but you don't get a good exchange rate and have to pay too much, plus service charges , thus the dollar you get becomes too costly
DD is a safe and better option. I am sure Al Rahji will give a very good exchange rate. Donot worry about pennies. Concentrate on the pounds. When you see TD Canada trust rates, you will bless Al Rahji. Pay the service charge, dude, and be safe.
Not sure, if you can bring 30K to 40K Cdn. $ (Seniors can advise on this).

Thanks TK, will try Al Rajhi once again. Pardon me if my continuous queries are frustrating anyone here. Cheers
I would have chosen the SAFEST mode regardless of exchange rate . DD is way to go if SWIFT transfer from your bank is not working out . Check with TD if they are willing to open account in foreign currency . If so transfer your funds as it is and convert when rate prevails .
Don't worry about no. of queries . We all had them at some point of time .
