I beg to differ.
Many of my friends are in Australia. All of them are well settled. Most of them did not have any barriers in getting a job. Even some of my friends who has ITI certificate are now in the Govt.. Australia was on a boom path since the late 90's due to export of minerals to China and they are just 20 million people and fiercely against illegal refugees.
The racist / racism is not as much as it seems. most of the people that I have talked to donot attest to this.
Febpreeth can also share more light.
As warren buffet says, very hard to see the road in front of you through fog but easy to see backwards with a clear sky / mirror.

I have been to Australia a couple of times but haven't lived as immigrant.
There is actually lots of racism there, a lot more than Canada.

but in other ways it is similar to Canada. Australia is totally dependent on exporting resources to China and Malaysia. Canada has a little more variety in resources and exports.
There is a real estate housing bubble in Australia and in Canada too as we all know.
Australia is much more isolated than Canada. Here we have easy access to the US and flights to Europe are cheaper and short (8 hrs. max.).
Desis in Canada and easily go to the US for full time work or contract work.
Australians are stuck.

I see only two advantages of Australia. The weather is a little bit better (if you don't mind the heat and the skin cancer), and the women are much hotter.
