+1 +1

May be it should not become very advanced, life was good when amenities were scarce (not basic sanity though).

Good salary, flexibility of fixing my own office timing (So I can do lots of personal work if I want to), ability to claim my personal bills as office expenses (which my CEO used to do before), coffee breaks, chit chat breaks etc...

So who actually works then???

Are we able to get free food like they have in Canada - like the food banks. Also, anything to compare with other free things like library, healthcare, parks etc??

Why do you need the Food banks when making 1 Lacs/month? I know it must've been sarcastic one.

Coming from Delhi, I can say they do have Public libraries (seldomly used by the youths these days) stocked with quality books. I was pretty regular when I was there. Parks are a plenty of with Mughal era architecture and well maintained. Healthcare - depands upon your budget. But, from my personal experience Government Hospitals such as AIIMS and Safderjung (near my house) are not that bad. We tried them with success. Marketplaces are all around and you have a choice to buy from the dirt cheap footpath market (Janpath, Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, etc.) to the most expansive ones (South Ex., GK, CP, etc.). Roadside food is another (great) story.

So, as long as you stick to the Metro, you'll do alright and won't miss Canada - except for the traffic, air quality, and some random corruption that might not touch you if you're the upper middle class, and what you will be upon returning back from Canada.

Because as advised on this forum, your hard earned money should not be spent on food. And also the free food you get should be taken to your parents too - so that they do not have to dig into their savings.

India has a lot if such things what Canada can't offer. On contrary most of the things what Canada can offer is getting available. So the arbitrage is tilting in India's favor.
Though lot of people would like to live in India, not many are lucky.

I would still suggest, those days are gone where India was a weak economy, poverty all over, corruption everywhere. Now things are changing very fast. There's a perception of rapid development. Those who miss the next decade will be left far behind.

So Chris, you have made a right decision by relocating well before it gets too late.

How do u say this? Do u any statistics or are u a psychologist? I guess neither. So don't generalize. I have met folks who have moved back from North America when their children were more than 10 yrs old. In fact my kid was13 when we moved back from Canada. Please note that u r not the first one to move back. Many have done and are doing.

Chandigarh is not a big metro city like Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai. So no big deal about travel, settling, etc.
