May be it should not become very advanced, life was good when amenities were scarce (not basic sanity though).

Good salary, flexibility of fixing my own office timing (So I can do lots of personal work if I want to), ability to claim my personal bills as office expenses (which my CEO used to do before), coffee breaks, chit chat breaks etc...

Are we able to get free food like they have in Canada - like the food banks. Also, anything to compare with other free things like library, healthcare, parks etc??

Why do you need the Food banks when making 1 Lacs/month? I know it must've been sarcastic one.
India has a lot if such things what Canada can't offer. On contrary most of the things what Canada can offer is getting available. So the arbitrage is tilting in India's favor.
Though lot of people would like to live in India, not many are lucky.
I would still suggest, those days are gone where India was a weak economy, poverty all over, corruption everywhere. Now things are changing very fast. There's a perception of rapid development. Those who miss the next decade will be left far behind.
So Chris, you have made a right decision by relocating well before it gets too late.

Yes, if kids live in Canada for couple of years then moving back is out of question.
