The multi billion coal 'gate' scandal has been exposed and the coal allotment cancelled and now the Hon. Tamil Nadu CM, conviced by a bengaluru court after 18 YEAR long court case. Jayalalitha may be conviced anywhere inbetween 1-7 years. All this was unthinkable in the 1990's or the 2000's but now possible in the 2010's. All this is due to economic development which was a result of education, introduction of computers and hard work of the average citizen !

You are very right. We are going through a transition period. Especially, politicians must recognise this and reinvent themselves.

People now have access to cable tv and internet and any wrong doing news travels fast even to remote villages.

With majority of the voters age below 35, they want to know what good the leaders would do rather than mere drama or cinema punch line speeches.

Hello,

WE are also thinking of moving to Chandigarh from Canada. Could you please share your latest experiences and any difficulties kids might face. How is job market there.

Any guidance shall be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jai

Hi Jai,

Individual realities are different, in general speaking:

1) Schooling till 12th my personal opinion is better in India, no complaints there.
2) I run my own business, in terms of satisfaction I feel better than job in Canada.
3) Health wise, its same
4) Work timings, these are bit negative for me since I have to give coverage through major part of EST hours.
5) Stress, its more probably due to business needs.
6) Job, anytime if I have to take up a job I will prefer Canada and not India.
7) Hospitals, Canada has not comparison. As long as you are healthy or keep a healthy lifestyle this can negate the disadvantage being in India. Though Chandigarh has 3 major government hospitals but its not for middle class, way too crowded and hassles to get the cards made.
8) Private hospitals, mostly are money making.
9) Traffic, is immaterial as your decision will need to accept it as a matter of reality.
10) Pollution, Chandigarh its not polluted.
11) Socializing, always India has more occassions especially the festivals.
12) Children younger than 7th grade usually adjust faster, you can always put them in Cambridge curriculum based schools.

I hope this helps.

Excellent decision. Tier-2 cities like Chandigarh are the place to move to instead of METROS in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chennai, Bangalore.

Less pollution, less traffic, less population. The cost of living is also low, especially the Real estate. The standard of living is also pretty high - both western & eastern amenities available at a reasonable price.

For just 1 Crore = $ 200,000 you can have a very nice bungalow house/flat in Chandigarh and live very comfortably with servants, maids, chauffer driven car, nice beautiful warm weather - not - 20 C with , 6 feet of snow. Plus you are not that far from Delhi, Agra , Gurgaon, Noida etc - so you can always visit these places easily if you want.

Your children grow up in nice Indian culture with Indian customs, traditions, values, principles & Sanskaar.

They don't grow up in the stupid Western culture, where your daughter gets pregnant at the age of 16 & becomes a single mother or lives with her boyfriend ( not husband ) and reproduces more bastard children born out of a wedlock.

Your children will take care of you in your old age in India. In Canada they will abandon you, once they go into the Western culture & throw you in a Old age seniors centre :(

I do agree with most parts of your comments, but about children its subjective. Cultural change is happening even in India on the lines of western world albeit slower. It will be difficult to escape it, but yes it will be easier to accept. :)
