Unlike an introvert psychopath, this killer, as the news turns out was a radicalized muslim planning to travel to Syria. The news that the PM himself was holding a meeting in a hall very next to where the killer had managed to enter makes it all the more dangerous. The PM's escape must have been providential.
Similar was the escape of the President of India who was staying for several days and enjoying his Durga Puja festival celebrations in his native place. This place was a few minutes distance from the Burdwan blast of Oct 2 site. Not only the suspected terrorists killed in the blast the news we are getting about the operations there is that there must have been a ''University'' being run there.

I have visited the Canadian parliament twice and there is less security there than a shopping mall in Mumbai.
That is (or WAS) a good thing. We dont need to live in fear with gun carrying people around us. Thats because most Canadians are peace loving people and not as crazy as some of the amercians and dont need white house like security.
Given the past history of Canada i did not see the need for the additional security. In fact the last time i was there i was so relaxed to see how the police officers were smiling and talking to my 4 yr old daughter. She even sat in their cruiser.
This is in stark contract to many parliament type institutions around the world that i have visited. I think with this event we have unfortunately lost something good.
The incident in quebec and in ottawa we committed by a couple of misguided youth.
What makes me really worry about the future of our amazing country is the fact that the government is allowing immigrants from some middle east and south asian countries and some people are extremists.
The government does not have a effective way of filtering it. There are already here and more are coming in thousands. They do not teach canadian values to their kids. I used to live in one such neoghbouhood and my JK going daughter was told by a SK kid not to dance or do ballet as it is against a particular religion i wont name here. The SK kid said many other things that were absolutely shocking. We sold our house and moved to a part of ontario that is more diverse religiously.
Where do you think this kid is learning all this from? The chances of these kids integration into mainstream canadian society is so much lower than others?
If they do not integrate they are going to get more and more frustrated (jobs, social integration etc.) and then it will not be 90 persons that the RCMP will have to watch it will be 90000.

Ironically, both the terrorists were "integrated" white guys and Christians till a couple of years ago.
These 2 people were Canadians not born in Islam , but converted , brain washed and radicalized by the religion , internet and community .... How is it possible that he could get gun without anyone knowing or helping him and the will to kill innocent people ....
Which brings me to the original q --- what is it about Islam that radicalizes ?? I think it is like this --- it preys on weak broken individuals , promises them light and goodness , sweet talks them in the beginning by showing all kind of positives and once this weak person has succumbed , gradually radicalizes him / her with the diktats of the religion .... when one is fully immersed and believes in the wrong ideologies and prays 5 times a day , he is converted into a Jihadist whom the religion brain washes and makes him feel that by committing violence they will be fulfilling Allah's agenda and be his soldiers and that they would have a better after life ....
This Jihad concept is unique to the religion and a great curse on humanity .

So what is preventing an open society to "brainwash" the people from refraining violence? As to gun, thanks to drug trade, plenty are available - legally and illegally. Remember, the first terrorist killed with a car!
Then there are MILLIONS of muslims who live in far worse poverty and pray 5 times a day but do not kill.
You purposely avoided responding to my first post in this thread. Eminent persons of the world - Noble Peace Prize winner and living God of of Millions Obama, most honest and intelligent person Manmohan Singh and prospective Noble prize winner in social economics ad soon-to-be CM of Delhi Shri Kejriwal, Oscar winner globally talented Shabana Azmi and host of other people say that Islam is a religion of peace. Do you denounce them?

And they would be rephrasing their words once the chickens return to roost which is apparently happening now.
If we do not curb this malady then soon it will be at our door...

I thought chicken did come to roost on 9/11. Did they not? The fact that the important people started announcing “Islam is a religion of peace” from their perch after 9/11! I guess you need to revisit the events after 9/11. So do not say “soon they will be at our door” kind of phrases. They ARE already in our home! Instead of panicking, you need to learn to live with them, be accommodating and appreciative of their culture. If possible, learn about their religion and start respecting it. You need to read and listen to the great speeches by our living God Obama, Mamohan and may other Noble Peace Prize winners.

I do not claim to be expert. However, I did read that the practise has religious sanction. That is the command. It is not that they just kill Yezidis. They do offer a better option to convert to Islam and embrace truly the God’s desire. The blame, if you are implying any, should be on non-believers. History says that those who embraced, they have been rewarded. Take the case of Hindu, They embraced Islam and have liked it so much that now they do not want to leave it. In fact they are most zealous (If you accept that most of the muslims in Pakistan are of Indian origin) in spreading the word of Koran. There are some people that they claim that those Hindu were forced and converted under duress. I, for a moment, do not believe it. My logic is simple: If I am forced to adopt or do something, I would do out of fear. When the opportunity arises, I will discard it. In this modern world, you cannot force people to do something forever. I guess those yezidis who converted would soon become enlightened and will be the torch bearers of Islam in future. If you analyze, more than 30% of the world population of muslims are converted Hindu. They are the most enthusiastic followers.
Conclusion: There is nothing to fear. There is nothing wrong. If there is something wrong, it is obviously wrong with your views/thinking. I will better go by the words and wisdom of the great leaders of the world like Obama, Shri Kejriwal, President Bush, Jimmy Carter, great movie stars, like Shabana Azmi, Ben Affleck and all the leading Newspapers of the world like NY times.
I have scouted multiple sources like all leading newspapers, TV channels, views of Noble Peace Prize winners and CAIR website. I can say with confidence that Islam is a religion of Peace.
You are absolutely wrong on facts and logic. You need to be re-educated and doctrine.
