Australian opener Phil Hughes died after 3 days in a freakish incident as the bouncer hit his helmet. He was supposed to play against India in place of Michael Clarke. I had seen him playing. Aussie players are in shock, as the media report says. Not sure if the Indian tour continues or not. Phil was 25 and played nearly 40 test matches.
RIP Phil Hughes.
One reason for the tragedy may be because of the inadequate covering by the helmet in the 2013 manufacture, which had been rectified this year.
With tremendous advancement in polymer science, it must be possible to develop helmets which can absorb heavy impact, airy, light weight and foldable. The reason is, for the MNCs, it may not be well paying like in the case of automotive tires where the tires get worn out and are replaced frequently.
